Le Perez & Rick Ferguson: Songs of the Women We Love
Join us as powerhouse jazz and blues vocalist Le Perez and dynamic pianist Rick Ferguson present “Songs of the Women We Love” featuring a selection of tunes from their favorite female vocalists. This will be a night of delightful music as Le lends her unique sound and phenomenal interpretation skills to songs from all-time greats like Nancy Wilson, Shirley Horn, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Carmen McRae, plus some selections from current, younger singers like Trish Hatley, and Emilie-Claire Barlow.
The vocal jazz sets will be rounded out with tunes from legendary pianist Ramsey Lewis who collaborated with Nancy Wilson on three albums and many live performances. We are honored to have drumming for this show the amazing Leon Joyce who played with the last version of the Ramsey Lewis Trio. Joining Le, Rick and Leon will be award winning bassist David Daniel. David played with Dianne Reeve, George Benson, DeeDee Bridgewater, and more.
San Jose vocalist LE PEREZ found her inspiration in gospel, blues and Motown growing up and now delights jazz audiences with her commanding voice and impressive range. Le has headlined at Angelicas, Savanna Jazz, Society Cabaret, Piano Fight, and festivals in the Bay Area, and won the JazzSearch West competition in 2017. Her 2021 CD “The Lovely Le Perez” is available on Apple, Amazon and more.
RICK FERGUSON (piano) loves invention and delight. Rick has played venues from Chicago to Sedona to Melbourne to Kauai and the Bay Area, has two songs featured in a 2013 movie soundtrack, and recently played for the President of Ireland. He has accompanied such jazz vocalists as Kimberly Gordon and Joe Williams in Chicago and Sarah Marie Young, winner of the 2011 Montreux Jazz Festival Young Vocalist Competition. A regular at Angelicas, the Filoli Mansion, and the Los Altos Bistro/Long Bar, Rick works with established and emerging vocalists in the Bay Area.
